Hi Doug, Luger stocks were finished prior to the attachment of the leather

Norm, your stock may be finished all over but I don't think you can make this statement with any certainty.

I have an un-issued Navy stock, with pilot holes drilled for the leather attachment screws. It's finished all over. Plural? Uh-OH!

If you have a Navy with more than one screw hole..something is amiss. That and can we ever be sure when a stock was last finished? 100 years ago or 25 years. Might be hard to say for sure.
