I had two uncles and a cousin in the Corps during WWII, all three were riflemen. The cousin, Cpl Jesse Petton was killed on the Canal, an uncle, Luther Atchison survived. The other uncle was on Iwo, he survived. Never got the chance, too young to ask, about Iwo to my uncle Dutch Worley. He got divorced from my mom's sister and he left for California and I never saw him again. He lived to 98 and died a few years ago.
