What are you basing the assumption that it was a "rework"? The 1920 marking? If so, I'm under the assumption (illusion?) that the 1920 marking as simply an identifier showing that it was gov't. property, not necessarily a re-worked or rebuilt gun.
Definitely an interesting with an interesting story to tell.
