Looks like a decent old war horse he has there. Like Ed mentioned, it is missing the left side plate, a rather important part and numbered to the gun. Obviously the gun is made by the Erfurt Arsenal in 1918, 9mm, it looks all original and matching. With the correct original side plate it was probably worth $1000 to $1200, but as is maybe $700. Side plates can be found, but an original Erfurt plate with those 2 numbers is going to be tough. But any side plate should work and will give your friend a shooter.
Do the magazine numbers match the gun?
