I'v posted a few more pics of the side plate with different camera angles.
I did do a thorough cleaning of the gun inside and out right after I got it.
In the pitted areas, I put drops of Hoppe's solvent let it set for a few minuets and then used qtips to and cotton cloth to wipe the area until the cloth had no brown-red smudges.
After cleaning I put a medium to heavy coat of Hoppes 9 and Rem Oil and then let it sit for a day then wiped the excess off.
