I found on (just answer. Firearms) Customer question, submitted 726 days ago. I am looking at a Luger 42 date that appears to have matching all over. But the frame has N Z stamped on it between the wooden grips. I have not been able N Z with the number 3 under N Z means?
(Just answer. Firearms Expert Bill) did not really know. (Firearms expert Tom308) I think he was headed in the right direction.(and I quote Tom308) I believe the NZ is for New Zealand and nothing else. The gun may have been in that country at one time. After 3.5 hours of research, it is all I can come up with. I know that Germany marked all of their handguns for each unit and where they stationed during WWII, but I couldn't find any NZ unit marks.
I thank TOM308 for his research. Now back to my research, I'v been in contact with an assistant curator at the RNZAF Air Museum, in Christchurch. They have LUGERS! In their collection. And he's going to look at them for me.
