Eric,

I believe you have two things here actually.

The ribbon and lapel pin are for the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. Awarded for outstanding achievement or meritorious service not of a nature that would otherwise warrant awarding the Commendation Medal.

The medal itself is the Navy Good Conduct Medal awarded for three or four years of good conduct, i.e. you stayed out of trouble.
