At our area gun shows, a few dealers or private individuals bring mismatched and low condition Lugers for sale regularly. They are universally overpriced, and not negotiable.
They do eventually succeed in selling them to somebody, and (in fact) cheat them because they are not worth the prices asked.
There is a higher learning curve involved with evaluating Luger pistols in all their variations and conditions. If you invest the time, you'll avoid making most mistakes.
The last one I remember seeing was a mismatched lP.08 Artillery Luger in poor (pitted) finish condition that the seller was asking $3500 for.
