Probably both. Ever try to buy a plain old GI .45? Seems that every one of those things has some rare marks that the seller is absolutely convinced makes it worth 2x the normal amount.
That is why we recommend lots of books, research and advice BEFORE you plunk your money down.
Luger sellers, at least these forum members, seem to be way above the average horse trader, but caution, education, etc, is still advised. And demand a 3 day inspection period.
One example is that I just bought an undated P08 with military numbers and no acceptance or proof marks. Rare? Yes, very. Worth more? Dunno. Probably depends on the buyer's opinion. Time will tell.
