I also believe in using the silicone impregnated socks or bore stores.

They do help repel humidity and moisture. More significantly, they have been shown to protect the finish of firearms during disasters (fires, etc...).

The acids used to tan leather plus moisture may be the culprit when storage in a holster leads to corrosion.
