Back in the 70's, I was on the way out woodchuck hunting with a buddy. The rifles were in the back of my Chevy station wagon, and we were in the front loading our pistol magazines and holstering our pistols (WW II Walther P-38 for me, Colt Gov't model for my buddy). I inserted the magazine, let the slide run forward, and toggled the safety to "Safe". The hammer went down, there was a loud "BANG", and I had a hole in my door panel. (My finger was
outside the trigger guard). We were both shaken, and since then I have adopted Fox Mulder's philosophy...

Strangely, there was no hole in the outside of the door...When I finally donated the car to the local fire dep't, I took the door apart and found a nice deep dent in the window winder "X"...The winder was .100" thick x .750" wide, and the operation of the winder was not affected...Since that time, I have a very dim opinion of 9mm ammunition...
