Bob,
The Germans captured some British tanks during WWI and even fielded them against their former owners. However, the lack of tools and spare parts meant that most of such vehicles had to be abandoned when faced with mechanichal issues. Howevcer, a few vehicles in working condition was still in hands of the Germans when the Armistice was signed and they were put against the Reds.
