I remember reading a thread here about a guy correcting Mr. Tinker on a M-1 carbine not being an assault rifle. I do remember at one time I read the Germans calling it that. I looked all over the internet to find proof of this to back Ed up, I found nothing.

Today watching Great Tank Battles, there was a German talking about a battle where he makes reference to a guy getting out of his Sherman with his assault rifle....A M-1 carbine. I looked all over for that thread on here to add to it this dialogue but I could not find it. The Germans did call an M-1 an assault rifle.
