Welcome to the forum.
As stated by Douglas, your grandfathers Luger is a DWM Alphabet commercial (formerly known as a 1920 commercial). According to Jan Still's Weimar Lugers, it was made in the second half of 1924. The letter under the serial # is an 'n'. It is a suffix and is part of the S#. The full S# is 747n.
Very nice family heirloom.
