Curly is correct . Reichswehr Battery 1 / 1st Field Artillery Regt. weapon # 40

1939: 1st Artillery Regt was transformed to the 37th Heavy Artillery Regt.

1944: It was again reorganized into the 121st Artillery Regt.

Your Luger most probably saw WWII service in both of these units.
