+1. At the distances you would typically shoot, a quick shot is more important than a super accurate shot. In a self defence situation you won't be able to use the accuracy at it's full potential anyway. If you want to, the P.38 can be carried with the hammer down on a loaded chamber, ready to go without fumbling with the safety. My bedroom gun is a Beretta 92FS, a direct descendant of the P.38.
