I'm doing the same with an Enfield No4 Mk1 stock/fore-end. I used Simple Green and steaming water to get as much oil/grease/Cosmoline out of the wood...waiting for all parts to dry for a week or two...they'll be modified to No5 spec for a faux 'Jungle Carbine' look...I have the required hardware en route now...Just need to shorten the barrel, re-crown, and turn down the muzzle for the flash hider...Lotsa fun...
