I once bought a U.S. Rifle 1903A3 "Drill Rifle" that had been deactivated by having a steel rod driven into the barrel and then a small amout of weld to hold it to the inside of the chamber... I took me $50 to have a surplus barrel installed and headspaced for it to do more than close order drill... It is still in my safe, and looks real unusual to have all GI parts and the receiver is hard bumper grade chromed finish...
