Great history of the SS and fantastic period photos. I suppose we are to connect the pictorial with the luger.....a far stretch IMO. I for one would demand more specific provenence with this "bring back". It just may be the lighting but the gun looks like it could have been a little "helped" with some buffing and touch up here and there. The insert in the left grip plate could (and probably was) added much after May 1945. All in all, however, if you forget the story, the luger itself is worth (Simpson price) over $2500, the holster and belt around $500, and the helmet (note how pristine the SS decal is with the surrounding worn and weathered metal!) about another $500. So at least it's not drastically overpriced. With sworn testimony and notarized bring back papers, a real rig like this would at least be double the price.
