I seriously doubt that anyone would be issued a plated pistol (I simply can't see a reason for it), but is it possible that Lugers or any other guns were plated by the soldier who carried it? The reason I ask is that i bought a plated Bergmann-Bayard a while back, and I found that it was quite common that Danish officers using these often had them plated to show off their rank. Granted, this was probably before or during WWI, but would it be possible that this also happened in Germany during WWI and/or WWII?
