If this rivet is a teeny tiny itty-bitty thingie, then you are entering the realm of micro-machining...Which postino has big problems with...My tools are just not well-made enough to hold tolerances that small...

If you were really energetic, you could check Ace Hardware, or a specialty hobby shop (like the ones who sell/service radio-controlled airplanes, or scale model trains) for a rivet close enough to pass detection from original...

Making one from a nail sounds good to me...
