Pete, the photo of the grip strap marking is fuzzy but I believe it is S.Al.II.1416. If so, it is from the Schutzpolizei (Prussian state police) of the administrative district of Allenstein in East Prussia. Markings from this police unit are extremely rare since this region was overrun by the Russians in early 1945. In fact, this is the only Luger I know of with this marking. The two other examples I am aware of are on a loading tool and a holster. Is it possible for you to get a clearer photo of the marking?
The acceptances on the right side of the receiver (E/H & E/WaA66) are typical of those found on many 29 DWMs.
Bill, does your Luger also have a grip strap marking?
