I think I know what you're talking about. There are two little pegs, one oblong, one round on the ejector, both of them have to be in their respective recesses, or the front of the ejector goes into the receiver a bit further.
Check to see if they're both in. The ejector should lay pretty much flat along the outside of the receiver. Sometimes they can be difficult to seat properly. A few I've had to hold the tip back from the inside, and use a dowel, (bamboo chop stick) to put enough pressure on to seat them. but yes, it should drag a little on the breech.
