Old guns like this may have gone through many owners. The crest may not be from the factory, added at some later date by a less skilled craftsman. You could also say this of the "GL" marking. ( very controversial)

This gun does have some issues, use every last drop of knowledge available to you before considering such a purchase and make a knowledgeable decision.

Faking of lugers goes back to at least the late 50's, this also starts the "Luger Book" production time frame. At least some of our best known lugers are now in question.

Someone once said " Believe nothing you hear and only half of what you read" when it comes to high end lugers you would be wise to remember this quote.
