Sear spring and safety lever
Is it possible to deform or damage the sear spring by attempting to cycle the gun with the safety on? I forgot the safety was on and attempted to pull the toggles back only to have the safety stop the process. After turning the safety off I began having feeding issues from the magazine and a misfire occured. My finger was off the trigger, but after pulling the toggles back the gun discharged three rounds before stopping.
Thanks to my dad's lessons in gun safety, I had the gun pointed in a safe direction at the time, and no one was hurt. I have since cleaned the trigger bar, replaced the sear spring, and returned to using the original magazine that was in it. I noticed the old sear spring was somewhat weaker and slightly bent. Perhaps I damaged it when I tried pulling the toggles when the safety was on?
