All guns are different... so I would start with the heavy spring (40), and work my way down until the gun functioned reliably... If I go to the 36 spring and was still having a problem with reliable operation I would start cutting coils one at a time to tune the gun to the ammo I intended to shoot in it.

They do have a "calibration pak" of recoil springs in 36, 38, & 40 pounds...

What would be appropriate for 9MM??? For 7.65mm??? What was the original 9mm & 7.65mm poundage???
