Even the light (36 lb) Wolff spring is too strong for the 7.65. Cutting off 2 coils of a known 9mm spring will get you in the ballpark. I remember a posting about placing brown paper packing tape on the rear of the reciever where the rear toggle would hit it at full recoil is used to determine the severity of recoil. Look for the degree of indentation on a double layer of tape to fine tune. Worked well for me. Traded my 7.65 for a new U.S. Optics Mil GAP spotting scope and feel I got a good deal. YMMV Joe
