3 and 7/8ths I think; so close that it appears 4 inches.

That said, there is official wiggle room, a gun barrel and / or bore measurement could be off a few hundreths of an inch(damn, where is ViggoG to correct me if I am wrong

, so guns could be off just a bit. Not enough for most folks to see, but it is measureable.
