I heard that historically more than 50% commercial Lugers were sold to the United States. People here were (and are) very fancy on Lugers. That may explain even a chromed one could go almost $1k today, and better refurbished Nagant 1895 at $100 no one wants it

Volume is just one factor and people's interest is a bigger one.
