Default Holster identification

Could someone help identify this holster?

It's a soft shell holster. A pocket for a mag on the front of the holster. inside the holster is a pocket for a cleaning rod. The flap has two slits cut into it to allow the the metal clasp and leather strap to be closed in 2 different positions. The two slits look original or were down a very long time ago. the square flap of leather on the back side of the holster, when flipped over has 3 very faint letters about 1/2 high very lightly pressed into it. They look like they were made by a die but could be a very steady free hand as well. hard to tell. the 3 letters are: K B S.

I'm thinking post-war Norwegian for a P-38, but I am only guessing here. more of a gut feel that I have seen this holster some where a long time ago.

What's the purpose of the back flap being split and having a D ring installed?

Thanks in advance!
