I got the original idea from Jerry,
lugerholsterrepair@earthlink.net
after he made a Navy holster for me. It came with a short piece of belting leather to keep the belt loops from mushing down. Neat!
Then as I started getting more pieces with holsters, I thought I needed some way to keep everything straight. Using a fine sharpie on the belt loop protector and marking which went with what. Now I'm also marking what mag, tool, etc on the strap.
So, in effect, the holster becomes the inventory for the whole rig!
You can do this yourself. Next time you're near a leather story, Tandy's or Leather Factory, etc, go in and buy a thick leather belt blank. 1.75 - 2.00 wide. Cut or have them cut into 5 inch lengths.
Better than little paper tags.
