A nice, but undervalued option on Windows PC's is the old 'Print Screen' button. In the old days, this would dump the screen contents on the printer, but since Windows got a foothold the 'printscreen' dumps the screen contents to the clipboard. Open a graphics editor, like MS Paint and press 'ctrl-V' (paste) and hey presto, your screen dump is now a graphics file.
With 'ALT-Printscreen' you can dump the active window to the clipboard, copy it to an editor and save it in any format the editor supports.
