You are correct, it is a Model 1900 American Eagle Luger. It was made specifically for thye US market. I think I can see one of the proof marks, a crown over a U, on the left side of the receiver. If the marks haven't been removed or worn away, you will usually see a crown over each of the letters B, U and G on the bottom of the barrel and a crown over B and U on the side of the receiver. Congratulations on having this model in the family, it is a classic.
