George brings up a good point...Actually probably few "Navies" ended up on the bottum of the ocean. Far more ended up back in port or on the battlefields of Flanders.

Many German Navy vessels were not actually sunk in WW1. It was WW2 that the German Navy was decimated. WW1 was a capitulation and most of the Sailors & ships returned to port. I knew that but like Joe I had often thought the same...
