This has been known for many years.

Anything is possible.

Although the sideplate is designed to cover and protect the sear bar, any object small enough or sharp enough to come in contact with, and depress the sear bar will release the firing pin. Unlikely? Yes. Impossible? No.

This is one of my arguments against carrying a Luger for self protection.
