Rob, a few misconceptions here.
See below:[quote=Bigcountry313;170350]Trying to get some info on 2 Lugers for a friend:
1st one:
a DWM, but no 1918/1920 markings. This is actually a marking showing two things, 1918 is the year of manufacture, the 1920 is a reichwehr property stamping; see FAQ for more info. Has a 3 didget serial number, with last 2 stamped on all parts. Yes, this is normal.
Has what I can find out is a German "Nitro" mark on 2 places. Commercial markings
an "N" with a mark over it and what looks like a q or o stamped under the barrell. No other markins I have noted.
2nd one:
also a DWM but has 1918/1920 stamped on the receiver. As above
has 8.82 stamped under the bbl, This is the land to land acceptance marking (it was made within tolernaces)
4 proof marks on rt side of receiver expected and on the grip strap, ( 4/A.R. 5.51). This is a unit marking
