Boy, except for Vlim, the Luger looks not to get much respect in the role it was intended for. I have had modern made 1911's jam on me quite often, as the Luger at times. The Luger might be ammo picky and properly clean, but I know it can still do the job it was intended to do. With such poor reputation as a service arm, in many opinions, I am surprised at the desire and value placed apon them.

Bill, its not for concealled carry or shootability that I collect Lugers? In fact, its a very smal reason I collect lugers. I love the history, the design, and their looks.
It really depends on the luger, I have had ones that were dogs at shooting, jamming all the time, etc. And I have an artillery that shoots and shoots, will swallow almost any round.
The luger was used for 2 world wars by germany and by many other countries through wars and strife, i would not say it is overall unrealiable.
However, I would grab my 1911 commercial any day, mainly because I am used to it and trust it.
