1939 Luger & 1941 P38 Hoster Info Needed
I am a high school U.S. history teacher and a cowboy action shooter. I also make leather for cowboy action shooting. I am not a Luger collector.
This past weekend I went to an estate sale and picked up two holsters. One is a Luger holster marked 1939 with the maker’s mark of E. LUNESCHLOSS SOLINGEN. The other is a P38 holster marked 1941 with a maker’s mark of joa. I took the holsters to a local gun show and a collector made me an offer on both holsters. I got his card, but I was hesitant to sell because I have no idea what these holsters are really worth.
I am active on a couple of cowboy action shooters’ forums and a few leather makers’ forums so I assumed there had to be some forms for Luger collectors. While looking for more information on these holsters, I found you guys.
I purchased the holsters because I knew they had value. I have far more interest in cowboy guns and leather so I would like to get these into the hands of someone who would appreciate them. But, I don’t want to get “taken” in the process. I would like to know what you gentlemen think is the fair market value of the holsters. Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
