Hello to everyone. I just joined since I received a Luger from my dad. I believe it is a commercial Luger since I took a look around and found the symbol (an N with a crown above it) meant it was commercial. Let me tell you what I know.
My grandpa got the gun some time around '45 or '46. The story I've been told by my dad and grandma is that his friend brought it back from North Africa while he was stationed there. Supposedly he took it off a Nazi pilot who was shot down. That is what I know, and I have no clue if it has any validity.
The gun is a 7.65 mm and seems to be in great condition. It is stamped with DWM on the top and it has the N with a crown looking thing on the top, above the serial number on the barrel. It has a weird symbol underneath the serial number, which according to what I read on this site, stands for the letter P. Every part on this gun has matching serial numbers, and the magazine has the wooden bottom. Can anyone tell me the year it was made? Also, I'm having a hard time finding 7.65mm ammo. If I found .30 ammo, could it be fired safely from this gun?
