I always load by hand, but the luger magazine requires some leverage for many folks and use a loading tool (the screw driver) you see. Also, depends on the repro mags, some are just not made as well others. Mecgars are good (although I don't know if that means it can hold 7 or 8?), as are real mags made for the luger.
