Back in 2003 some politicians, the TV and Press media and some very obscure Non-Governmental Organizations tried to pass an Act here in Brazil in order to prohib the selling and ownership of all types of guns for civilians. Their main ground was that the guns handled by (honest) citizen only served to be stolen by the criminal and be used against the society. Yes, you read right: the culpability for the high levels of violence, isn't the drugs neither the faulty law - it's MY FAULT!

Well, however, some smart legislator added an article in such Act, asking for a referendum where the People must to chose if the gun commerce and ownership should be banned or not. The referendum took place in September 2005. To my surprise, in spite of all the biased propaganda against the "pro-guns" made by the Government, TV and Press Media and some other scumbags, the Act was REJECTED by 2/3 of the electors!!!! Yes: 66% voted against this stupidity. One important detail: here voting is mandatory (you cannot refuse to vote) so everybody had to went to the ballot boxes.

This result gave me hope to continue this hobby. You know, sometimes is tiring to be seen as a kind of criminal or a crazy shooter. That was one of the most incredible days of my life! It was VERY FUNNY to see the face of the politicians that wrote that law as they were very confident that it would be a easy victory. Up to this day they do not assimilate their defeat.

Now, Piet, I'm gonna tell you frankly: do not turn to police your great-greatfather's war trophy. This is part of your family history. Use your contacts and do everything possible to keep it intact and with you. our son and greatsons will thank you for that.

Greetings,

Douglas
