Walter,

The notch machined into the front of the receiver, above the date, indicates that this was originally a long-barrelled LP08 "Artillery" model. The barrel has been replaced by a standard 4" one. The commercial crown/N stamped on the right side of the receiver suggests that this was done by a non-government gunsmith, and its location suggests that the work was not done near the state proofing office which proofed DWM production in Berlin.

It would be useful to see any other marks on the barrel, and whatever marks might be on the breechblock, as well.
