I have to agree with Ron Smith on this one.
The "4's" on G S/42's toggles are usually closed topped ( the tips touch)

This gun is interesting but is most likely a parts gun, if you look at the take down lever you will see that the first two digits are small font this would be correct for this gun but the "2" is larger and was added at a different time.

There is no way of knowing when this was done however. The gun could be period but how do you prove it?
