Default 1939 s/42 all matching

Hello,

I'm new to this forum although I have been a gun collector for 30+ years....just not Lugers. I prefer American sporting arms & advertising. I recently acquired a 1939 s/42 in 98+% condition. All sn's I can see match including one mag. It is in a 1939 dated holster. The gun was in one family since The War.

Being that the gun is in such incredible condition I suspected a refinish but the more I look I dont think so. All markings/stamps are crisp, all edges are sharp, there is no evidence of prior pitting. The blue is alittle "cloudy" in a few places which I read may be a characteristic of a correct finish.

My question is this...there are no "straw" finished parts. I think I read that "straw" parts ended around '37. Can somebody verify for me that this is correct thinking.

The set will probably find a new home but I want to know for sure what I'm representing.

Thanks.
