Re: Preservative Oils Lifting Blueing?
There have been some pretty exhaustive tests done by members of this forum and most agree that Clenzoil (available at some gunshops, gunshows and on the internet) is the best. I use it and it is light, penetrates, does no harm, and has been around for a long time. I also use RIG which is a heavy coating that I wipe down after it has been applied. I have been using this for over 25 years, no rust or damage ever. I would not recommend putting any petroleum product on the grips or the holster, though. I have heard that there are some gun oils that will dissolve the cold bluing solution but that is not all bad.
