It is interesting how many of them have their right thumb hooked into or resting on their belt. This was probably a natural responce to most armies prohibition of ever having your hands in your pockets.
Hitler continued this afectation, which likely dated from his WW1 service. He was often photographed with his thumb in this way while giving the nazi salute.
