Re:Watch Band of Brothers
I have an uncle that was with the 1269th Engineer Combat Batallion in support of the 101st in the Berchesgarten area as the war came to an end. He was instrumental in the opening of the Goring treasure cave in that area. He had three pictures that he made of much of the treasures removed from the cave, and a collector in Dallas found out that he had the pictures. The collector ask to borrow the pictures to have copies made, and never got around to returning the pictures. The best picture is in Volume I of LTC Thomas Johnson's "WWII German War Booty". The picture is described as being from the personal collection of another collector, so apparently the a$$hole sold my uncles pictures. A very good account of what was found in the cave is in "WWII German War Booty" Volume II starting on page 45.
