I spent three years in England working as a DOD civilian on our Air Force bases (1976/1979), RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall, RAF Fetlwell, and RAF Alconberry. At the time anybody could own a shotgun. I remember shooting trap and sheet at some of the bases gun clubs along side of British folks who could shoot there too. I found it interesting that a lot of British folks used black powder shotguns. So a round of sheet could take awhile. Anyway the point I'm getting to. Was when I got ready to come back to the states. I had more problems on our end trying to ship back a shotgun I had. And ended up selling it to a Air Force servicemen.
