That is an excellent idea!

Based on Pete's suggestion, here's another idea: You know the dryed out clay particles that you sprinkle on a concrete floor to dry up spilled oil? I think one of the name brands is "Oil Dry" and mechanics use it to soak up spilled motor oils or hydrolics fluids, etc. You might be able to put that inside the vacuum bag with your grips too. Or you might be able to put the grips in a fruit jar of that stuff and leave them for a while.

Anything that is "non destructive" is worth a try.
