Eric, From the books that I have read, 5 .45 Cal. luger prototypes were sold to the US Govt. in 1907 for testing, Two are known to have been destroyed in testing, 2 are still known to exist and the 5th is the one we all hope to find. The US requested to purchase 200 more to test against the Colt M1905, but DWM declined to tool up for less than 1000, so the Savage .45 was ordered instead. TH
